Our Forest School
Our students take part in Forest School sessions. In these student-led, play-based sessions, students get regular opportunities to succeed, build confidence, and develop as individuals through hands-on outdoor learning. They can be creative, gain confidence, and learn skills such as shelter-building, green woodworking, natural art, and fire-lighting.
Perseverance - activities like fire lighting, sawing, and whittling help students develop perseverance and resilience. We encourage them to take their time and get involved, which often leads to determination and success.
Team Building and Friendships is a big part of Forest School. Many activities require students to work together and support each other. By playing and working in groups, our students make new friends.
Play is at the heart of Forest School and is key to how children learn. Since they help choose the activities, they are eager to take part and try new things.
Exploring the Environment - Forest School gives students time to explore outside and form a strong bond with nature.
Cooking is an important part of Forest School. We often use food from our kitchen garden, so students learn where their food comes from. They also learn useful cooking skills and enjoy sharing meals with friends at the end of each session.
Learning about the Seasons - we spend time outdoors in all kinds of weather and explore what each season brings. Our students learn to notice and enjoy the changes throughout the year.
Creativity - children are naturally creative, and many Forest School activities, along with time in nature, help them use and grow their imagination.
