Values
At Hertford Primary School our We CAN values; challenge, aspire and nurture run through every aspect of school life.
Challenge
We challenge every child by establishing high expectations in all areas. We teach children to build key skills, both academic and social, so that they are empowered and enabled to become lifelong learners.
Aspire
We have high aspirations for every child, offering experiences and opportunities through our rich and varied curriculum, working together to foster ambition and equipping them with the tools to make good progress and thrive.
Nurture
We nurture our children, valuing the individual and providing them with social confidence and self-awareness. Empowering and supporting them to manage their needs and learning. We teach the importance of diversity, inclusion and respect, building trust together.

Aims
Every 5 years we review our school aims, we do this with our whole school community, children, families, staff and governors. The aims below are for 2025-2030.
Children leave the school with a sense of self-worth – children believe they can achieve what they want to do regardless of challenges and differences. They have high aspirations for themselves.
Children are resilient, they make good progress and thrive – children achieve as much as they can academically and personally, they are respectful and have the ability to communicate effectively with others. Differing needs are well met by the school supporting every child on a pathway to independence.
Children understand what they can contribute to society – children have a sense of belonging in school and our community. The school is committed to creating an inclusive environment, where needs are meet and any form of discrimination is challenged and dealt with robustly. The school has embedded a whole-school approach to the environment and sustainability in it’s everyday life and curriculum. The school is on a pathway to becoming net zero with action plans in place aligning with the city’s broader Net Zero targets.
Children, staff and other stakeholders trust the school - children feel safe and secure, staff are listened to and feel the school respects their wellbeing, families are included in their children’s education and supported when challenges arise.
Children are offered a broad breadth of curriculum - every child can pursue an interest they are enthusiastic about. All children have access to Forest School and other enrichment activities.
